What’s a PUPPET JAM?

Much like a music or improv jam, a puppet jam is a nurturing place for people of varying skills levels to collaborate and learn from one another. Unlike poetry slams, jams are non-competitive.

What’s the format?

Each Atlanta Puppet Jam will start with an hour half-ish of folks working together on different prompts given that night.

Think simple and small. Some folks may come up with a whole story in their time, others may spend the time working together to make a puppet realistically walk. It’s all correct!

The evening then culminates in a “Show & Share” of what people came up with that evening, as well as time for folks to share other puppetry works in progress. This can be a performance, or simply showing off a puppet you’ve been building.

Fun. Encouraging. Welcoming!

Who is it for?

It’s for you! Someone hungry for more opportunities to puppeteer, collaborate, and play. No puppetry experience required! All bodies and abilities encouraged to come.

We do recommend participants be age 16+.

What do I bring?

Bring yourself and be ready to move! Puppets not required, but feel free to bring puppets you’re interested in using or to show during the Show & Share.

How much?

Atlanta Puppet Jams are free, but it does take effort and resources to make these happen. We recommend a donation of $5 (please and thank you).
